(Some concluding thoughts on what's in store)

Despite emerging as a promising therapeutic agent targeting multiple signaling pathways and exhibiting cellular-level activities that contribute to its diverse health benefits. However, its efficacy is hindered by poor bioavailability stemming from inadequate absorption, rapid metabolism, and elimination.

To address this challenge, nano delivery systems have become a focus of research. These nanocarriers, including liposomes, solid lipid nanoparticles, and other formulations, offer enhanced solubility, protection from degradation, sustained release, and improved cellular uptake.

Recent studies also explore tailored nanocarriers for combinational cancer therapy, synergistically combining curcumin with chemotherapy, magnetic nano hyperthermia, or photodynamic therapy to amplify efficacy in malignancy treatment. By leveraging nanoencapsulation technologies, researchers aim to overcome constraints associated with curcumin treatments, emphasizing the importance of combinatorial approaches in improving therapeutic outcomes.

Despite the challenges, the application of nanocurcumin holds immense potential for revolutionizing therapeutic approaches. Continued research, focused on organized and scheduled clinical trials, is essential to unlock the full potential of curcumin and translate its benefits into effective treatments for various human diseases. The current research landscape is one of immense potential – pre-clinical studies have showed massive improvements in the ability of curcumin to fight off several types of cancers. Further focus can be laid on improving pharmacokinetics to promote better absorption, longer circulation and more regio-specificity.
